“Siemens-Expo City Vision Campaign” kicked off

On May 27, 2009, with less than a year to the kick-off of the Expo 2010, Siemens today launched its “Siemens Expo-City-Vision Campaign” to strengthen its commitment to the Shanghai Expo and its theme of “Better City, Better Life”. The green infrastructure giant provides comprehensive solutions to make the Shanghai Expo 2010 the most environmental friendly and energy efficient of all World Expos. The complete China Pavilion on the Expo gets its building technology from Siemens.

The Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai from May 1st till October 31st 2010 is expected to attract over 70 million visitors from all over the world. The success of such a major event  requires comprehensive solutions not only to ensure the flow of visitors and information, but also to improve the infrastructure in the city and on the Expo ground. Siemens proves itself to be the most reliable partner in providing integrated energy efficient solutions for the Shanghai Expo. For example, the total environmental friendly solutions for the China Pavilion, intelligent building systems for the Theme Pavilions, reliable power distribution solutions for all the five permanent constructions, as well as energy efficient lightings. Siemens makes sure the Expo will be as safe, sustainable and enjoyable in every means possible for the visitors.

In the run up to the Expo, Siemens will offer Chinese cities our “urban resource efficiency profiling” approach. With this unique and standardized method Siemens generates together with the cities a roadmap to increase city sustainability and bring urban energy consumption down. The program adopts a unique analytical approach to analyze the “EE (energy efficient) footprint” of key urban infrastructure such as buildings, transportation, etc. Based on the EE footprint, the most effective and efficient technological solutions are identified. The program proved to be successful in Europe where the first of such an appraisal has been done together with the city of London. This March, the company also published a study on Munich showcasing sustainable, energy efficient infrastructure solutions for a nearly carbon-free future in large urban areas. Now, Siemens offers such projects also for Chinese cities in a tailor-made way.

Siemens also unveils today its dedicated Expo motif showing the city skyline of Shanghai as part of the company’s global “Answers” advertising campaign. The Expo motif additionally will raise public awareness on the Shanghai Expo all around the world.

Siemens is planning a comprehensive Hospitality Program. The company gets prepared for hosting thousands of international and local guests at the Expo 2010 program. The program will include a technology-tour showcasing Siemens’ most innovative solutions, key references at Expo Site and insights in Siemens latest resource saving technologies for cities today and in the future.

“The Expo 2010 brings Shanghai unprecedented opportunities to display how city life in a metropolis of the 21st century will ideally look like. Siemens with its broad portfolio is deeply engaged in this process and is well prepared to help make cities greener, healthier and a more enjoyable experience,” said Dr. Richard Hausmann, CEO of Siemens North East Asia, President and CEO of Siemens China, “Our partnership with the World Expo and Shanghai dates back to the 19th century. With this as a solid base for our support to the Shanghai Expo, we promise again our full commitment to this major event. It is a big privilege for us to contribute to the realization of ‘Better City, Better Life’”.
