Schneider Electric to host Tackling Energy event

Schneider Electric, a specialist in energy management, is hosting an event as part of the Tackling Energy series at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham on 11 June 2009.

The event, called ‘Sowing the Seeds of Change’, is the second in the Tackling Energy series, which is aimed at contractors, installers, panel builders and specifiers looking to improve their knowledge of energy management and to gain a fresh perspective on the surrounding issues.

The programme features seminars focusing on: the key themes of energy efficiency; understanding IEC 61439, which governs the safety and performance of electrical panels; integrated energy-saving solutions; and the changes and effects of BS7671.

The seminars will be running throughout the day and delegates can take part in any combination of sessions where they can interact and share ideas.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss best practice and applications for specific installations, through one-to-one sessions with Schneider Electric’s technical experts, as well as view product demonstrations within the exhibition area.

The company’s training team will also be on hand to explain its range of training courses.

Schneider Electric has a team of dedicated energy specialists and a range of energy-efficient products and services to provide solutions for maximising energy usage.

By making the most of their energy, businesses and organisations can drive down costs, improve their competitive position, meet important legislation and reduce their carbon footprint, according to the company.

David Lewis, Schneider Electric’s energy-efficiency specialist, said: ‘Energy efficiency means something different to everyone, from capital to operational expenditure, from “being seen to be green” to realising tangible environmental savings.

‘This event will show practical measures that can save energy, money and the environment, as well as highlight simple solutions and their potential benefits,’ he added.

At the conference, attendees will also get the chance to enter a prize draw to win places at a corporate-hospitality event at Edgbaston cricket ground on 30 July.

Winners will watch the third Npower Ashes Test Match - England against Australia - and have breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in the David Heath Suite, situated within the RES Wyatt stand.

Mitsubishi reveals integrated safety relay

News from Mitsubishi Electric Automation Systems:
Mitsubishi’s approach to safety relays closely integrates the standalone protection and performance of safety circuits and the diagnostic capability of the PLC.
This is achieved either by incorporation of the QS safety relay onto the PLC rack, or by direct high-speed CC-Link for the standalone networked version.
This configuration means that [...]

They are used in many industries such as oil refineries, manufacturing lines, conveyor systems and so on. Where ever there is a need to control devices the PLC provides a flexible way to “softwire” the components [...]

Plc Development

Early PLCs were designed to replace relay logic systems. These PLCs were programmed in “ladder logic”, which strongly resembles a schematic diagram of relay logic. Modern PLCs can be programmed in a variety of ways, from ladder logic to more traditional programming languages such as BASIC and C. Another method is State Logic, a Very [...]
